Gaijin Geisha???

Geisha (芸者) or Geiko (芸子) are traditional, female Japanese entertainers whose skills include performing various Japanese arts, such as classical music and dance.

The word Geisha consists of two kanji, 芸 (gei) meaning "art" and 者 (sha) meaning "person".

So, the most literal translation into English would be "performing artist".

Apprentice geisha are called maiko (舞子, "dance child") or hangyoku (半玉, "half-jewel")(meaning that they are paid half the wage as opposed to a full geisha),

or by the more generic term o-shaku (御酌), literally "one who pours (alcohol)".

Tokyo geisha are more likely to start at 18 years old for hangyoku, so on average, Tokyo hangyoku are slightly older than their Kyoto counterparts.

There remains some confusion, even within Japan, about the nature of the geisha profession. Geisha are regarded as prostitutes by manynon-Japanese. However, legitimate geisha do not engage in paid sex with clients. Their purpose is to entertain their customer, be it by dancing, reciting verse, playing musical instruments, or engaging in light conversation. Geisha engagements may include flirting with men and playful innuendos; however, clients know that nothing more can be expected. In a social style that is common in Japan, men are amused by the illusion of that which is never to be.

Who wouldn't want to hear the experiences of a white girl who lived a life that we Westerners have only known through the clouded lens of romantic Orientalism, or "Memoirs of a Geisha".

It was partly her desire to give such a firsthand account that prompted the anthropologist and filmmaker Fiona Graham to join a geisha house early last year and then to live, at least for a while, that life of legend.

"I have investigated a number of Japanese topics, and doing geisha seemed a great idea, as not much has been written on geisha from an insider's point of view," said the Australian.

"I have spent half my life in Japan," said Graham, who — in line with traditional geisha coyness — refused to give her age, but did say she first came to Japan as an exchange student at age 15.

Sayuki (Graham's geisha name) joined a "geisha house" in the Tokyo district of Asakusa early last year and, after almost a year of learning "basic manners — opening and closing doors, standing, sitting and everything in between" — debuted in a flurry of colorful kimono, white makeup and pomposity in Asakusa. It was Sayuki's membership of the geisha house and her formal debuting as a geisha that set her apart from other non-Japanese "geisha" in the past — most notably American anthropologist Liza Dalby, who in the 1970s spent a year in residence with geisha in Kyoto, training with them and accompanying them as they worked.

Sayuki explained that she skipped the apprentice stage in the conventional geisha career path (maiko/ hangyoku) because of her age. But Sayuki's "debut" did not mean that her training was over. Far from it: "The older geisha attend lessons and practice on a daily basis into their 90s," she said.

The training involves classes in tea ceremony, dance, and musical instruments.Geisha "work" involves attending special events, such as public tea-ceremony performances during the day, and going to banquets at night.

The banquets are generally held at exclusive ryotei Japanese restaurants, but geisha will also go to private residences. It costs upwards of ¥80,000 to have two geisha attend a banquet for two people (the cost depends on the number of guests, as well as the number of geisha). For that fee, the geisha will play musical instruments, dance and chat with the guests.

Sayuki said one of the most enjoyable things about being a geisha is wearing a kimono, which she must choose carefully to match the season. That said, kimono are famously expensive — with a single outfit often topping ¥1 million (around $10,000).

Graham says she hasn't decided how long she will continue to be a geisha. For the moment, she is working on a plan to make it easier for non-Japanese to get a glimpse of the closed world she currently inhabits. Sayuki and her geisha girlfriends are holding special tea parties for non-Japanese at a fraction of the normal prices.

the exhibition was about 1000 square meters, and got about 20 companies from different cities, like Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Fujian, etc...
the displayed products were more about comunications, motorcicles & parts, electricals, environmental products, constrution materials and so much more...
also well known companies like ZTE, Huaiwei and Putian were there.

The three members of the boy band TVXQ who asked the court

to suspend their contracts with their agency, SM Entertainment,

have failed to reach an agreement with the agency.

The Seoul Central District Court tried to settle the matter
on September 30 between Xiah (real name Kim Jun-soo),
Hero (real name Kim Jae-joong)
and Mickey (real name Park Yoo-chun)
and SM Entertainment, but to no avail.

The three members reportedly refused to negotiate.
The court will not summon the three members again
and will reach the final decision soon.

The three TVXQ members applied
for a provisional disposition on July 31,

Korean star Kim Hyun Joon [SS501] its recovering from the H1N1 virus,
he was diagnosed with the influenza virus and
is currently hospitalised in Tokyo, said his agency.

The “Boys Over Flowers” star was in Japan
promoting the hit drama series over the weekend,
the he was down with a fever and a headache,
and was forced to miss promotional activities.

According to a statement by agency DSP Media,
Kim was scheduled for a noon flight back to Korea on monday
and had made it through immigration without any problems.
But the singer was later taken to the emergency room
when his health took a turn for the worse.

The 23-year-old actor will remain in Japan for further observation.

the taiwanese band called musou came to the dominican republic

to promote their culture and music,

as many people know, we have a big asian population,

mostly chinese and taiwanese.

its not as big as the ABC or ABT in United States

but for being this little [the island] its a big deal to us. (:

so talking about the band!~

the music is awesome!

and they are really cute girls with lots of energy*

even tho its like traditional music

is still cool how they mix the music with songs from today~

its a merengue, salsa & bolero fusion actually~

but they played it with their intruments,

that are veeery different from ours,

The Musou Band is Taiwan’s first all girl band in traditional Chinese music.The band was created on December 2008 by the Taiwanese composer Liu Shueh-Shuan. The band’s artistic director is Wang Ming-Hua, who is also part of the Taiwanese national orchestra and she plays the Ehru.

The band members are 10 beautiful ladies all coming from music departments from different universities in Taiwan. The band is made up of different string, wind and percussion instruments and their style is a combination of symphony, pop music and electronica. It’s simply a unique and original mix which goes where traditional music has never gone before.

i always though that asian people just were happy with asian people,
that's what old people said.
and like asians usually hang out with asians
that's what i always though since i was a little girl.
But we got to the point now that race doesnt matter at all,
maybe the ancestors arent happy with that,
but hey! its about people's feelings right?

im happy that the times have changed
because now i know i wont have to worry that much ;D
since i like asians man more than any other race.

when i see a mixed couple out there
they just put a smile on my face instantly~
its like the cutest thing on earth, besides mixed babies!!!

but sometimes i get annoyed when people look at them [couples]

it didnt matter for them;
but the people out there is really mean ;\
their words helped me a lot.
and now im more than sure that mixed babies
are the cutest thing on earth.

so talking about domo;
everyone knows him, love him, want him
but none knows the story
about how everything started.

Domo (どーもくん, Dōmo-kun) is the mascot of japans's NHK television station, appearing in several 30 second stop-motion sketches shown as station identification during shows.

The name "Domo" was acquired during the second episode of his show in which a TV announcer said, "dōmo, konnichiwa" (どうも、こんにちは), which is a greeting meaning something along the lines of, "Well, hello there!", but which can also be interpreted as "Hello, Domo!", and thus is a convenient pun (dajare). The kun suffix on "Domo-kun," the name used to describe the character in the Japanese versions, is a japanese honorific often used with young males.

Domo, the main character, is described as "a strange creature that hatched from an egg." Domo's favorite food is Japanese-style meat and potato stew, and he has a strong dislike for apples because of an unexplained mystery in his DNA. Domo can only communicate via producing a low-pitched noise which sounds somewhat like his own name, but other characters appear to understand him. Domo-kun is known to pass gas repeatedly when nervous or upset.

first post of today:

hi readers.
i have 3 days without writting and i feel BAAAD!
i have a little notebook with all
the new things i've been doing
and new things that i know etc..

but the thing is
i dont like to write two post or more in one day

well, let's start today.
do you know what origami is right?
its the art of folding paper~
and the smaller and tiniest
is always the cutest and the best!

i've been making lucky stars
a while back but since i
didnt have the right paper
i made them with regular bond white paper
but i painted them and then added nailpolish
to made them shine and strong!~ (:

sometimes i painted them directly
with color nailpolish! lol

so the thing is tha my boyfriend's cousin
gave me a bunch of lucky star papers
but oh well i made them almost all!
i just have 4 left. :O

i went to this anual expo of
korean culture, products, and technology

its called Expo Corea 2009

so the place was nice, fulll of korean babies

so, me and my boyfriend
went to this korean restaurant called
seoul's garden in english
for our 2.7 monthsary :P
[2 YEARS AND 8 MONTHS NOW] ;D ♥ ~

andy got the famous bi bim bap
-its all mixed on the picture.

we got fried rice with kimchi

and we also got a BBQ meat SO DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!~
its like salty and sweet at the same time.
i was dying in heaven! :P
so basically we shared the food.

in my country people dont eat like that,
i mean, one table with all the foodin the center,
and you just grab what you want to eat.
and eat it directly to your mouth
those are asian cultures. (:

here, people eat in his own plate,
alone, without sharing the food. xDD

when im at my bf's house i feel so
